about my blog

My name is Ken, just a regular guy who likes to travel solo and developed an interest in scuba diving from my travels.

Want to travel but have limited time?

Of course its possible! Ideally we would love to experience all those wonderful travel videos from youtube, but unfortunately, not all of us can take weeks off. As for me, I have a job with long hours, so I’m maximizing my travel with the time I have available.

This blog will provide you with a…

  • Brief itinerary from my short weekend/holiday getaway
  • Planning and guidelines to save you time.
  • Travel Tips

From there you can adjust the itinerary based on your interest and hobbies.

Past

American/Japanese born and raised in Pennsylvania, USA, one of the founding states of the USA. In college, I majored with a Civil Engineering with a minor in business. In return for a huge tuition fee, I received a piece of paper, my diploma.

However, one of the best experiences I obtained from college was studying abroad. I wanted to learn more about my roots so I had the opportunity to study abroad in Japan, Miyagi Prefecture in 2011, right after the Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami. Study Abroad was one of my best college experiences giving me a whole new perspective on life and making lifelong international friends. It was this experience that I would spark my interest to discover the world. Study Abroad is an experience I would strongly recommend to everyone.

After graduating from college I could have worked in the USA, but I felt so bored with my daily routine and needed some change. It was like I was in a cage and limited to things inside when there was so much that the world had to offer outside that cage. In my opinion, life is about pursuing goals or dreams. I always wanted to go back to Japan after my study abroad experience so even though there were a lot of unknowns and questions, I figure I was still young and it would be easier now than later to challenge myself to work abroad. Jumping into the dark was scary with so many unknowns but, fortunately I found my first job in Japan as a Site Engineer at a Construction firm.

I started working in Tokyo, Japan in 2015. I am a hard worker but to be honest I was not really fond of the Japanese working culture. Luckily in 2017, I got transferred to Singapore, the “Lion City”. From there my life took a good turn and I started a lot of solo travel and scuba diving, which would eventually give me the confidence to make this blog.

In 2018 I got my Advanced Open water Scuba Diving License in Singapore with the Dive Company and was one of the best decisions I have made. Underwater is a whole world itself and there are so many unknowns. As a traveler who always likes to see what the world has to offer, I want to see all the marine wildlife that the beautiful sea has to offer. The license is also recognized by all countries, so I have found it to be a good icebreaker when meeting new people.

Now and Going Forward

Am I a full time travel blogger!? Nope, I am still a corporate slave working long hours while finding every opportunity to travel.

The reason why I started this blog was to document my travels and to share my experience to help other travelers. I’m not changing the world but, I want to leave my legacy in this world in some shape by helping others.

Since one of my goals is to travel the world, I would need to make more time. Therefore, to achieve more time I need to be financially independent and focus 100% on travel. To do that I am saving, investing, doing some side hustles. If I can achieve this kind of freedom then anyone can.

I have a long way to go until I can achieve this dream, but hey who says life is a walk in the park. What’s important is you have to believe in yourself and the product and not listen to the doubters saying “you can’t” or “not good enough”. Don’t think it’s possible? Well follow me and see how I progress.
